Chapter Seven: The Others

     Sam felt very afraid. Who were the others? That question echoed through her mind non stop. Suddenly Sam heard a couple of voices whispering in the distance. 

"Oh look they're here. The others finally woke up." Morris smiled at Sam. She saw a group of four kids walk in. They were all about her age. They all went to her high school.

"Sam oh my gosh you are okay. Thank goodness." Aries hugged her and smiled. Sam hugged him back but she had no idea he cared about her that much. Among that group she saw someone very unexpected. Someone she was afraid to ever see again. It was Marvin. As in freshman year-perfect-cute-mysterious-crush worthy Marvin. Sam's heart skipped a beat when she made eye contact with him. Sam thought she was over Marvin but her heart did not agree. After freshman year it was like Marvin disappeared. Until today.

   "Alright now that we are all here let me introduce myself. My name is Morris and I am your leader you may say. I will train you for something that will change the world. Before we get into that let's go around and introduce ourselves. All of you youngsters gather around in a circle. Sam would you like to start?" She didn't want to start she wanted to leave but she just nodded.

"Hi my name is Sam and I don't know why I'm here and I don't like it."

"Well thank you for that great response Sam. You go next." Morris smiled pointing to a black haired girl. She had beautiful green eyes. Sam would see her in the hallway at school sometimes but why was she here?

"My name is Dessi, I'm 17." She said in a loud, strong voice. Next Morris pointed to a geeky boy with light brown hair. He was your usual geek. He wore glasses and suspenders.

"Umm I am um Reldi. Hi, hello. I'm scared please don't kill me. Thank you." Marvin quietly laughed as he stood up.

"I'm Marvin. I like sports,video games and girls." Sam couldn't help but get annoyed. Was this all a joke to him? He looked at her and winked. She really liked him but she hated it. Lastly Aries quietly introduced himself. Sam had never seen him this scared before. They were all so different why were they here together. 

"You five are very important to us but that's enough learning for today. I bet you are all very hungry. Why don't you follow me to the cafeteria to get some food. We will talk more about this tomorrow." Morris said. Could Sam wait until tomorrow?

 

Chapter Six: The Truth

     The voices of people talking indistinctly woke Sam up. She woke up in a room much like her own. It was painted in a light purple color, it had pictures of Sam and her friends on the walls and that's when Sam realized she was in her own room. She had no idea how she ended up here. For more than a second she thought that maybe if she went downstairs she would see her mom making her breakfast and her brother getting annoyed that he's going to miss skating with his friends if Sam wasn't ready faster. Then she remembered the last thing she saw before waking up in there was a figure that looked like her mother. Aries and Danny were behind her. Where were they now? Outside of her room she saw a long hallway, it scared her but she was determined to find out where it would take her and she wanted to find Aries and Danny as fast as possible. It was not her home. Sam kept walking along the hallway following a couple of voices. Has she been kidnaped? So many thoughts ran through her mind and none of them were good.
"What are we going to tell them when they wake up?" A tall man asked some other people in a room at the end of the hallway. He was dressed in a black suit, they were all dressed very professionally. Sam hid behind the door to hear their conversation.
"They need to know the truth so they can trust us." A woman answered.
"Who's 'they'?" Sam wondered. "Who else is here." Sam had no idea if they were bad but she did not like the situation at all.
      Before she could think of trying to leave she jumped at the sight of a tall, buff, well dressed man.
"Look who it is everyone." He raised his voice."You must be Sam, my name is Morris." He could probably tell how afraid Sam was because he whispered "it's going to be ok" in her ear. He slightly grabbed her by the shoulder and led her into the room with all those people.
"Hello Sam." They all greeted.
"Who are you people. What do you want!" Sam questioned with a look of terror on her face.
" It's all going to be ok. Trust us." Morris answered. How could she trust some people she just met.
"What is this place?"
"You will find out very soon. We are very sorry as to how we brought you here."
"What exactly did you do to bring me here?"Morris explained that they used a woman that looked like her mother in order to bring her closer. Then they injected her with a special syringe so she could fall asleep.
"And how exactly do you expect me to trust you now?" Sam started raising her voice." Where is my brother? My friend?" Sam had a million questions to ask.
"We will tell you everything when the others wake up." The question was who were the others?

Chapter Five: The Throwback

Sam's point of view.

       It's the first day of high school today and honestly I have no idea how to feel. Luckily I have my best friend with me, Aries. Me and Aries have been friends since the beginning of middle school. In the beginning I only saw Aries as a friend and nothing more. But as time went by and I got to know him I started liking him as more than a friend. He does not need to know that. I'm a little bit excited to meet new people, make new friends and learn new things. You can say that I'm a little bit of a nerd. Actually I'm a huge nerd but that's not the point.  I wonder how much Aries changed. If I tell him how I feel our friendship might be ruined forever and I don't want to risk that. 

        As I walked into the crowded hallway my heart started beating really fast. I kept walking and looking around to find Aries. Because I am literally the clumsiest person I know I accidentally bumped into someone while I was walking. That someone was a guy. 

"Hey watch where you're going." He said looking down at me. The guy had dark brown eyes, long eyelashes and dirty blond hair. He looked sporty and well build. 

"Oh my goodness I am so sorry, I didn't see you." I shyly replied. He gave me smile which showed his small dimples.

"It's fine don't worry about it. I'm Marvin by the way. Are you a freshman I haven't seen you around before but I'm glad I do now."

"Umm yes I am a freshman." Ugh why am I so shy.

"Well then I hope to see you around beautiful." He stared at me for a while and slowly walked away.

"My name is Sam if you were wondering." I shouted when I remembered that I forgot to tell him.

He turned around and winked at me. Ok so maybe after all that I started fan girling in my head. He was just so perfect and I was just me. Across the hallway I saw Aries. I didn't think he could get any cuter but he did. Well this is great only the first day of school and I already like not one but two guys.

Chapter Four: The Found

      "This can't be happening. It's not real." Sam whispered to herself. She wanted to find her mom and brother more than anything. The thought of her never seeing them again gave her goosebumps.
"Sadly it is reality, but don't be afraid we will get through this. Together." Aries said grabbing her hand tight. Sam felt a strong connection but she wasn't going to let him hurt her again. Sam quickly moved her hand and started walking towards her mom's work.Deeply hoping she would find her mom there. On the way there Sam hears a familiar voice desperatly yell at her. 
"Sam, Sam you're alive. Oh my goodness I thought I lost you." 
"Daniel!" She yelled running towards him. With tears in her eyes she hugged him hard." What happened here  Danny? I'm scared."
"I don't know Sam, all i know right now is that we need to find mom. We need to stick together." The three of them carried on walking and trying to ignore all the desperate people who were crying for their loved ones.
       When they got to her office Sam's shock brought a massive pain in her chest. The building was completely torn to the ground.
"Danny, Aries where is she? Where is my mom? No I can't loose her guys I will fall apart." Sam cried out with tears running down her face. Danny put his arms around her trying to comfort her as well as he could. They looked around the crumpled building, asking people if they've seen her. No one wanted to help them. It was like each person was for themselves,like they didn't even care. Sam was so tired she fell to the ground.
"I think we should take a break." Aries said. They all agreed as they sat down on what was left of the steps to her mom's office. A couple of minutes later Sam saw a familiar figure hiding behind one of the cars.
"Mom! Mom! I'm here." The figure turned around and Sam saw that it was her mother and she quickly ran as fast as she could desperate to hold her mom in her arms. The boys followed behind her but something they would never have expected happened. Suddenly Sam heard the boys scream something behind her but she couldn't understand what they were saying. She fell to the ground and suddenly everything was pitch black.

Chapter Three: The Discovery

    It has already been one day since they were all trapped. Everyone began to slowly loose faith in ever getting out of the room. But not Sam she still had hope. Hope that she will see her family and friends again. A loud bang on the door startled Sam and her classmates. They all shrieked in terror, when they heard a couple of manly voices screaming. Mr. Hopkins yelled at the class to be quiet and everyone went silent. 

"Everybody try to calm down, we are trying to open the door. Please try to remain silent." Deep voice yelled. All the classmates went back to their own seats, sat down and patiently hoped the door would open. Sam heard loud thumps on the door. The noises where so loud everyone had to cover their ears. With the last huge bang the door flew open. There were many excited voices around the room. There were five men who opened the door, they all came in and told the kids to go outside. Sam and the others quickly got up to see what was in the hallway. It wasn't a hallway anymore. All of the lockers crumpled down to the floor, there were no doors in most of the classes and the walls along with the ceiling fell apart. Almost no one could speak, the shock and terror was to big.

"Where is everyone else?" Aries shouted across the room.

"That's what we all wanted to talk to you kids bout. W don't want to alarm you but only your class and two other classes made it." One of the men said. Many alarmed voices started panicking across the room.

"Unfortunately the people in the other classes were crushed when the "earthquake" happened."

That was the moment the world stopped for Sam. What if her friends didn't make it. She felt tears pouring down her face but she quickly wiped them.

"You guys can go outside and try to find people you know." Mr. Hopkins sadly said. Sam heard someone shout her name. It was Aries.

"Sam , hey do you want me to come with you? It would be easier if we went together, please."

She could hear the desperation in his voice, and she knew he was afraid. Sam gently nodded and they both slowly walked through the empty school. It was crumpled to pieces.

   They both finally got to the front door. The whole school was so empty and sad. But at least they made it. Sam did not know what to expect on the outside but what she saw outside the front door made her heart beat fast. All of the tall Manhattan building were either all crumpled down or broken in half. Most of the roads had huge cracks in them. Other roads were completely broken. All of the trees had fallen to the ground or they were ripped from their core. The cars were completely smashed. But the saddest thing she saw were the people. They were all rushing around, scared looking for someone they knew. They had a look of despair on their faces. Many of them were on the side of the road and they looked like they gave up searching. Sam had never seen so much disaster, not even in movies. She tried to shut her eyes, maybe this was just a dream. Maybe she could make herself wake up. That's when reality hit her. This wasn't just a dream, sadly it was reality.

Chapter Two: The Trapped

     The room was getting dark and everyone was still in shock from everything that happened. Sam could still hardly comprehend what was happening and more importantly why. 

“Sam right?” a deep voice asked. 

“Um yes, who is this?” Sam turned around to see a tall boy standing behind her. The boy had dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. 

“I'm Aries. Remember me? We used to be great friend's in middle school.”She did remember him. Their friendship ended very abruptly. It started on the first year of high school. He became one of the popular mean kids and he stopped talking to her, until today.

“I do remember you.”Sam gave him a confused look. 

“So do you think we will ever get out of this room?” He chuckled. 

"Yes I do. Why wouldn't I?”

“Well the way I see it we might be trapped in here for a very long time so maybe we should start being friends again.” He pulled a chair next to her and sat down.

“Give me one good reason why I should be your friend again.” Sam demanded.

“Maybe because if we don't make it out we can at least put the past behind us.” He gave her a chuckle. 

“In your dreams Aries.” Sam got up from her chair and went to the door. She looked outside and realized that the door was very trapped. There was no way they could get out of there unless someone opened it from the hallway. There was a look of disappointment on Sam's face. What if Aries was right, what if they were all stuck in there forever. There were no noises outside in the hallway. It was like everyone magically disappeared. What happened to the people who were outside where they could not hide under anything. Or the people who were driving, what did they do when they felt the ground shake so hard. What about the people who didn't make it under a desk, did the ceiling crumble on them? Did they survive? Will they survive?

Chapter one: The Beginning

     It was on this very day that Sam lost everything she had. September the 15th that's the day Sam never would have expected would end everything. But let's start from the beginning. Sam lived with her mom Erica and her brother Danny who was 17, just one year older than Sam. It was just another loud, rainy, ordinary day in Manhattan. Sam was getting ready to leave for school when she heard something loud coming from the kitchen. She rushed downstairs afraid of what she might see.          
  "Boo you loser I knew I could scare you". Danny yelled in her face. Sam shrieked in terror.                    
  "Wow you are so funny", she said sarcastically.                                                                              
  "Come on kids you don't want to be late for school", Erica announced. Sam adored her mom she was Sam's role model. Her mom was a lawyer and she worked hard every single day in order to provide for her and Danny. Sam and Danny ran out of the house and to the bus station. As they were waiting at the bus stop a creepy voice whispered something in Sam's ear.                                                  
  "Hello there you." She gasped and turned around. It was her best friend in the entire world Astrid.
  "Why is everyone trying to scare me today!" Sam exclaimed.                                                        
  "Well you're in a bad mood. What's up?' Astrid wondered.                                                                  
  "I don't know I've been having this weird feeling that something bad is going to happen today and you two are not helping by trying to scare me." Sam heard Danny chuckle next to her.                        
  "The only bad thing that can happen today is not getting pizza after school,"Astrid smiled. Sam thought she was right, but was she?  When the bus finally came the three of them went straight to the back seats. Sam loved the bus ride mainly because she had time to zone out, look out the window and listen to music. A couple of minutes later they were finally at school. Nothing to interesting ever happened at Sam's high school. She wasn't exactly "popular". Her group of friends was not very large. It included Tyler, her best guy friend, Lindsey, Sophia, Mia and Jack.                                
  "Ready for math ?" Jack asked even though he knew the answer.                                                          
  "I will never be ready for math," Sam replied. Sam would usually zone out all the time but today something was different. All of a sudden a loud, huge bell started ringing. Sam had never heard this type of ring before.                                                                                                                  
  "Everybody get under your seats, there's going to be an earthquake!" Her math teacher Mr. Hopkins exclaimed. Everybody was in a great panic and a huge rush.                                                            
  "It's probably just a small, little earthquake it's not a big deal." Sam thought. But when she looked up at the ceiling she realized she was wrong. Small pieces of the ceiling started collapsing right onto the desks. Slowly more and more bigger chunks started falling. People were screaming and nobody knew what to do. The only thing they knew was that they had to stay under those desks... or else the ceiling would crush them. The ground was shaking so fast Sam could hardly keep her balance. The screaming and despair of others was so loud Sam just wanted to get out of there. Suddenly is stopped. The shaking, the collapsing, it was all over...for now.                                                                        
  "Ok everyone please remain calm," Mr. Hopkins yelled. " I have never seen something like this before." And he was right. The classroom was destroyed and the ceiling was hardly a ceiling at all. Big pieces of the ceiling were gone, you could even see part of the sky. Sam was worried about what happened to her mom, her friends, her brother. "I'm afraid I have bad news," Mr Hopkins announced.
  "The door is blocked by the collapsed ceiling in the hallway. We are stuck in here for now." Terrible things rushed through Sam's mind. She could hardly think with all the screaming from her classmates. She knew today was gonna be a bad day.
